Man to appear in court for being argumentative with officers investigating shooting

A Clermont man will appear in court next week for causing a disturbance during a shooting invesigation.

Officers responded to a shooter on Beecher Street around 12:35 a.m., Jan. 24, according to a case report from the Leesburg Police Department. As they began to investigate, 43-year-old Ryan Simmons became disruptive with them and other bystanders.

One of the officers asked him to leave the area, but he refused to listen. He instead grew extremely argumentative and aggressive to the point of being detained. He was put in the back of a patrol vehicle and brought to the LPD in an effort to remove him from the area and de-escalate the situation, the report said…
