ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR) – The town of Rocky Mount received $800,000 from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development to upgrade its North Main Street Corridor.
This stretch of road spans from the US Route 220 interchange to the Angle Bridge, which leads Main Street into downtown Rocky Mount. Officials said this will be an important next step towards economic development.
“This shows that the North Main corridor is really important to Rocky Mount,” Daniel Pinard, Rocky Mount’s director of cultural and economic development, says. “We’ve seen a lot of growth in our downtown and uptown, we’ve seen a lot of growth in the Route 40 corridor, where we have the Walmart and Lowes, and we know that there will be future development on the North Main corridor.”…
