Wilmington says they’ve spent over $1.1 million removing snow following winter storm

The City of Wilmington says the bills are adding up as they continue to remove snow following January’s winter storm.

According to the city, they’ve spent $153,750 in overtime hours, and paid at least $1,096,212 to Diamond Materials to try to eliminate the 8″ of icy snow and sleet that has caked in much of Wilmington.

Wilmington’s stats with Diamond Materials only goes through January 30, but to that point, they said they’ve used 567 hours of front end loaders, 710 hours of backhoes, 1,638 hours of tri-axle dump trucks, 150 hours of dump trucks with plows, and 275 hours of skid loaders…
