South Florida is seeing rain and falling temperatures Thursday as a fast-moving cold front pushes across the region, bringing a brief round of showers, gusty winds and a quick chill heading into Friday morning.
Cold front rain is moving through during the mid-day hours and was expected to end by early afternoon as skies gradually clear. Sunshine may briefly try to bump temperatures up, but highs have already peaked around 74 degrees, with readings expected to steadily fall through the rest of the day.
Behind the front, winds will increase with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph, creating hazardous beach and boating conditions. A small craft advisory went into effect for the Atlantic waters at 1 p.m., while an advisory remains in place for the Florida Keys.
