AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — As reported by the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch, the average gas price across Texas was $2.45 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel on Thursday. Five cents less compared to this day last week and 29 cents less compared to this day last year.
According to AAA Texas, drivers in San Angelo are paying the most on average at $2.64 per gallon, while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $2.27 per gallon. Drivers in Amarillo are paying $2.32 per gallon, which is three cents less compared to last week and 30 cents less compared to this day last year.
AAA officials note that the Texas statewide gas average has declined as gasoline demand remains soft, and colder weather keeps drivers off the road. Officials add that pump prices are expected to trend higher leading into spring when refineries start transitioning to summer-blend gasoline production.

“Colder weather is keeping gasoline demand down across Texas, which has helped ease prices in many parts of the state,” said Daniel Armbruster, AAA Texas spokesperson. “That seasonal pattern usually changes as spring approaches and refineries begin the switch to summer-blend gasoline.”
