‘We need to have the majority on this board’: Mayor clarifies city stance on water authority legislation

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Mayor John Horhn says he still wants an authority to take over Jackson’s water system when the third-party manager leaves.

But he won’t back legislation to create an authority that’s not controlled by Jackson appointees.

“We have been adamant that the city owns the asset, the city at this point is still responsible for the debt, and we believe that we need to have the majority on this board,” he said…
