St. Charles day care teacher accused of giving toddlers laxatives

ST. CHARLES, Ill. (WGN) — A woman is accused of giving children chewable laxatives at the west suburban day care where she worked, St. Charles police said Thursday.

The investigation began on Tuesday, Feb. 3, after St. Charles police say their department was notified by multiple parents who attended a day care facility in the 2400 block of West Main St., alleging that one of their daycare teachers had given a chewable laxative to their children.

A police investigation found that incidents had occurred, impacting three juvenile victims. Each victim was two years of age or younger, police added.

As a result, 23-year-old Yizel J. Juarez, of Sycamore faces attempted aggravated battery causing bodily harm to a victim under 13 and endangering the life or health of a child, all misdemeanors.

Juarez turned herself in to the St. Charles Police Department. Officers booked her on charges and released her from police custody.
