Trial date set for driver in crash that killed Ozark woman

AVA, Mo. – Jury trial is set to begin in November 2026 for a man indicted for second-degree murder in the death of an Ozark woman killed in a 2023 vehicle crash in Douglas County.

William Harrison Egan, 65, of Sedalia, was indicted by a Douglas County grand jury in December 2023 in connection with a crash that killed 32-year-old Heather Nesbitt. His trial was scheduled for Nov. 30 to Dec. 2, 2026.

Missouri State Highway Patrol reports indicate Nesbitt was driving a 2018 Ram Promaster when Egan, driving a 2012 Ford F150, crossed the center line and struck her vehicle head-on on Missouri 14 near Highway O.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, and Egan was taken to a hospital by an ambulance with moderate injuries…
