Spokane grocery clerk earns ‘bagging rights’ at national competition

OLYMPIA — If you’re shopping at Rosauers in Spokane, you might be in the presence of a champion. Michael Le, a courtesy clerk at the North Division Street store, finished third in the National Best Bagger Competition, held Monday night at the National Grocers Association Show in Las Vegas, according to a Washington Food Industry Association press release.

Le earned his spot in the national competition after winning Washington’s state-level contest, hosted by the association. Contestants were judged on speed, precision, balance, style, attitude and appearance while bagging groceries.

As the second runner-up, Le received a $1,000 cash prize and “bagging rights,” the release said…
