King Charles III Heckled Over Brother Prince Andrew’s Epstein Connection

King Charles III faced an unexpected moment of public scrutiny during a recent royal walkabout when an individual questioned him about his brother, Prince Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, and his ties to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

The incident occurred on Thursday, February 5, as King Charles, 77, and Queen Camilla visited the picturesque Essex village of Dedham. Amidst the cheering crowds, an unidentified man reportedly shouted, “Charles, Charles, have you pressurized the police to start investigating Andrew?” The King, however, did not acknowledge the comment and continued to greet well-wishers.

This public confrontation brings renewed attention to Prince Andrew’s controversial past. Andrew, 65, voluntarily relinquished his royal titles in 2025 following widespread headlines concerning his association with Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in 2019 while incarcerated.

In an October 2025 statement to Us Weekly, Andrew explained his decision, stating, “In discussion with The King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family. I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first.

I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.” He further added, “With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further.

I will therefore no longer use my title or the honors which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

The allegations against Prince Andrew stem from a 2019 accusation of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre, who passed away in 2025. Giuffre claimed she was set up with Andrew by one of Epstein’s associates.

While the former Duke of York consistently denied the accusations, he eventually settled out of court with Giuffre for an undisclosed sum. The allegations resurfaced last year with the posthumous publication of Giuffre’s memoir, prompting King Charles to take legal action to strip his brother of his remaining titles.

An October 2025 statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed these measures: “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation. These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.”

The statement also emphasized, “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla, 78, have largely remained silent on the ongoing scandal, which has gained fresh traction this year after correspondence between Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson with Epstein were released as part of the “Epstein Files” documents.

Prince Edward, 61, another sibling of King Charles and Prince Andrew, recently addressed the family’s situation during the World Governments Summit in Dubai in February. When asked how the royal family was “coping,” Edward stated, “Well, with the best will in the world, I’m not sure this is the audience that is probably the least bit interested in that. They all came here to listen to education, solving the future, but no, I think it’s all really important to always remember the victims, and who are the victims in all this, a lot of victims in all this.”
