West Coast in for ‘a major pattern change,’ National Weather Service says

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The West Coast’s weather is in for “a major pattern change,” according to the latest forecasts.

While the rest of the country dealt with freezing temperatures, sleet, and snow, the West Coast enjoyed above-average temperatures and, so far, a drier-than-normal 2026.

However, on Thursday, the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center announced that the mild weather will likely take a hiatus.

They say the Central Valley and surrounding areas can expect a 40 % to 50% chance of below-average temperatures and a 50% to 60% chance of above-average precipitation from late next week through the following week…
