Man dies after fire breaks out inside his Greensboro apartment, fire officials say

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 62-year-old man has died following an apartment fire late Monday night in Greensboro.

Greensboro Fire Department crews were called to a reported structure fire around 11:07 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at an apartment complex in the 5900 block of West Friendly Avenue. Firefighters, along with Greensboro police and Guilford County EMS, responded to Building 16.

Crews located one person inside Apartment E. The victim was identified as John Ashley Apple, 62. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries…
