MADISON, Ala (WHNT) — About 1 in every 100 children is born with a congenital heart defect, also known as CHD. It’s a statistic that has shaped the life of a family living here in North Alabama and inspired their business with a deeper meaning.
Ximena Lisandrelli was born in 2018 in Nicaragua. Her mother, Lucia Lisandrelli, said doctors quickly realized her daughter had a serious heart condition that they could not treat in their home country.

“She was born in Nicaragua, and there was nothing they could do for her over there,” Lucia said.
Just hours after Ximena’s birth, Lucia said they boarded an emergency flight to the United States so Ximena could undergo surgery. She said her daughter’s condition is extremely rare and has no cure, but treatment options are available…
