Man shot by sheriff deputies identified as veteran, motorcycle enthusiast

YPSILANTI, MI — A man shot by police in Washtenaw County has been identified.

John Andrew Jenuwine, 34, died of multiple gunshot wounds, according to his death certificate, after Washtenaw County Sheriff’s deputies shot at him in the early morning hours of Jan. 6, 2026.

Jenuwine was identified via the county death records. Attorney Todd Flood, who is representing the family in an upcoming civil case also confirmed Jenuwine as the shooting victim…
