Henry Stewart III, one of Baton Rouge’s first Black TV reporters, dies at 90

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Henry Stewart III, one of the first Black on-air reporters in Baton Rouge television history and a longtime presence at WAFB, has died. He was 90.

Stewart joined WAFB in 1972, becoming a pioneer in local broadcast journalism at a time when few Black journalists appeared on television news in the city. He spent 13 years at the station, earning respect for his professionalism and reporting.
