Fatal Crash on Northbound Bastrop Highway in Austin

Northbound traffic on Bastrop Highway ground to a halt Thursday after a crash in the 1100 block left one person dead, according to Austin police. Officers rushed to the scene, and investigators shut down lanes so they could work the case. Early information from police did not identify the victim or clarify whether anyone else was injured.

APD Says Investigation Is Underway

According to the Austin Police Department, officers were called to the 1100 block of Bastrop Highway northbound for a crash that resulted in at least one death. Detectives with APD’s vehicular-homicide unit are leading the investigation.

The city typically asks witnesses and anyone who has video from the area to contact APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111, per the City of Austin. Authorities did not immediately release the victim’s name or say whether any arrests had been made.
