A teenager was rushed to a local trauma center Thursday morning after a stabbing in Central East Austin, according to officials. Medics with Austin-Travis County EMS arrived just after 10:30 a.m. and described the teen’s injuries as potentially serious before transporting the victim for emergency care.
Stabbing Reported On Pecan Brook Drive
The stabbing happened in the 5300 block of Pecan Brook Drive in Central East Austin, according to KVUE. Austin-Travis County EMS told the station that medics were called to the scene around 10:37 a.m., treated the teen, and then took the victim to a local trauma facility.
Austin police assisted at the scene but are not the lead agency on the case, KVUE reported.
District Stresses: Not On LBJ High Campus
With word of a stabbing in the LBJ area, Austin ISD moved quickly to clarify that it did not happen on school grounds.
“The stabbing did not occur on the LBJ High School campus,” the district said in a statement to KVUE. The district did not say whether students were involved or whether operations at nearby schools were affected.
