JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens says his office had its “best year yet” in 2025, citing the number of cases prosecuted and the number of guilty verdicts handed down.
Owens held a press conference Thursday, where he delivered his 2025 annual report, telling reporters that his office took 70 cases to trial, resulting in 29 guilty verdicts, 33 guilty pleas, and 26 life sentences.
“In every matrix that mattered, our office got better,” he said. “And it’s one of the reasons we have a safer Hinds County.”…
