‘Uncooperative’ Wisconsin man flees traffic stop, arrested for OWI & drug charges

PORTAGE, Wis. (WFRV) – A 43-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested for OWI and drug charges after he became ‘uncooperative’ during a traffic stop and sped away, prompting a pursuit.

The incident began around 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, when a deputy with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle allegedly speeding and driving erratically on HWY 33 near Caledonia Street in Portage.

According to the release, the deputy initiated a traffic stop and ‘immediately’ noticed the odor of a controlled substance coming from the vehicle. The driver, later identified as Donald Marshinsky of Chippewa Falls, allegedly became uncooperative, closed his window, and sped off.

Even after successful tire deflation devices, Marshinsky reportedly ‘dangerously’ passed multiple vehicles on the shoulder before coming to a stop near Fairfield Street…
