EDWARDSVILLE — An indictment against a Granite City man accused of murdering his brother in October was made public.
Franklin Smart Jr. was attacked Sept. 29 with a “long-handled gardening tool” and died about two weeks later in a St. Louis hospital.
David J. Smart, 23, of the 1700 block of Spring Avenue, Granite City, was indicted Oct. 23 on two counts of first-degree murder, both Class M felonies. He had originally been charged Oct. 3 with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony…
