For those of you who are sick of winter weather, it’s time to celebrate as warmer conditions are finally returning. Now, to be clear, this is not the end of winter. Spring is still a long way off, but we are getting a much-needed break from the bitter cold and snow.
Today, temperatures will once again climb into the upper 50s under mostly sunny skies. Winds will be a bit breezy and will flip to the north this afternoon as a weak cold front moves through the area.
This front will only be a minor hiccup in an overall warming trend. Temperatures tonight will dip below freezing for everyone across the Ozarks.
Saturday will be the coldest day we’ll experience for roughly the next week. With that being said, the day still looks great. Highs will rebound into the low 50s for most locations, with slightly warmer temperatures farther south.
Temperatures start to skyrocket on Sunday. Highs will reach the 60s, with some spots in northern Arkansas potentially flirting with the 70-degree mark. If you’re holding out for 70s, you won’t have to wait long. Springfield is forecast to reach 74 degrees on Monday, which would be our warmest temperature since the Christmas heat wave.
The need for rain continues to grow, and we’ll have a few chances this week. Scattered to isolated showers will be possible on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Most people are expected to stay dry, but those who do see rain could pick up between a tenth and a quarter of an inch…
