Utah business owner sentenced to prison after defrauding victims nearly $600k

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — A business owner was sentenced to prison for defrauding victims of nearly $600,000 intened to aid Ukraine.

John Earl Donaldson, 32, of Saratoga Springs, pleaded guilty on May 19, 2025, to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to launder money. He was sentenced on Wednesday to two years in prison and three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $591,932.73 in restitution.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Utah, Donaldson acted as the owner and operator of a gun and ammunition business, Urban Armz LLC, from December 2021 to January 2023…
