WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI — With the future of federal funding for housing programs for people exiting homelessness still in flux, several Washtenaw County programs that rely on that funding are trying to prepare for anticipated funding gaps and reductions.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Trump administration intends to shift funding away from programs that provide people with permanent supportive housing or rapid rehousing, in favor of programs that provide shorter term temporary and transitional shelter, while imposing work and treatment requirements.
