North Carolina — The Wake County Sheriff’s Office has charged two people in connection with a mail theft and check fraud scheme, working alongside the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began on September 10, 2025, after a resident in northern Wake County reported that two checks she mailed were altered and deposited into an unknown bank account.
