New Lowell bookstore and coffee shop supports Catholic school

A bookstore and coffee shop has opened in the space where Fryeday Coffee Roasters used to operate in Lowell, and the business will support a Catholic school.

Parsifal Books opened in downtown Lowell at 106B East 1st St. on Jan. 24. The shop offers new and used classic literature, children’s books, theology and philosophy titles and contemporary literature, and proceeds from the bookstore will go to St. John the Baptist Academy, a hybrid pre-K through grade 12 private Catholic school that educates around 90 students using a classical curriculum.

“I’ve always wanted a bookstore. … But we just kind of drove by here. (The landlord) had just kind of put up the rental sign,” said Zachary White, headmaster of St. John the Baptist Academy. “Seeing the space kind of inspired me to do it.”…
