CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cuyahoga County Sheriff Harold Pretel is following through on his threat to sue if Executive Chris Ronayne doesn’t leave his fiscal office alone.
County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley formally filed a request for Pretel to hire outside legal counsel with the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Court’s office this week, as noted in an email exchange with Ronayne.
O’Malley previously warned Ronayne about potential legal action in a cease-and-desist letter on the sheriff’s behalf calling for Ronayne to return payroll duties to the sheriff’s fiscal team and end attempts to move additional fiscal functions under the county’s central office.
