WWS sends letter to Westfield High School parents regarding potential protest

Westfield Washington Schools officials sent a letter to families about guidelines and possible consequences for students who participate in planned anti-ICE walkout at Westfield High School.

According to the Instagram account of abolishicewestfield, a social media account created to organize student anti-ICE protest, is scheduled for Feb. 10.

The letter, co-signed by WWS Superintendent John Atha and WHS Principal Alicia Denniston and sent Jan. 29, states students have a constitutional right to free speech and expression at school. The letter stressed that school employees must remain “protest neutral.” No flyers or banners can promote a protest or a counter-protest in a WWS facility…
