Man accused of killing woman, her 2 sons: ‘I just snapped’

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The man accused of killing his fiancée and her two sons in Grand Rapids late last month told Target 8 that he saw “red” after she told him he would have to move out of their home.

Charles Broomfield said it was one of his multiple alternate personalities that pulled the trigger — a claim the prosecutor said he’s not buying.

Broomfield spoke to Target 8 for about 45 minutes Friday via video chat from the Kent County jail, where he is being held on three counts of first-degree premeditated murder and weapons charges.

Broomfield, 44, who has no criminal record, is accused of killing his fiancée, Jacqueline Neill, and her sons, 15-year-old Cameron and 13-year-old Michael Kilpatrick, on the morning of Jan. 27 in the home they shared.
