Del Monte Foods announces closure of cannery in California, impacting fruit growers

MODESTO, Calif. – Del Monte Foods has announced the closure of its last cannery in California, causing a significant impact on the state’s fruit farmers.

The California Farm Bureau reports that the closure will affect approximately 600 employees and 1,200 seasonal workers in the Modesto area.
