UPDATE (2:45 p.m.): 36-year-old Jalynda Smith has been arrested in connection with the death of her 5-year-old son.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, Smith’s sister called the sheriff’s office around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 6, voicing concerns for her nephew.
