A 43-year-old man was shot and killed late Tuesday on the 3500 block of Maple Lane in Hazel Crest, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at about 10:45 p.m. The Cook County medical examiner identified him as Stephon L. Smith and listed the cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds. Hazel Crest police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
