ATV driver sentenced for chasing driver in Downtown Kansas City last August

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man pleaded guilty to two counts of felony harassment in Jackson County Circuit Court on Wednesday, stemming from an incident in August 2025 where he was accused of chasing a car while driving an ATV.

Court records show that Lonny Waits was charged with two counts of first-degree harassment after being accused of chasing someone’s car at high rates of speed and causing “emotional distress.”

However, initial reports showed that Waits was accused of shooting a firearm into the vehicle he was chasing, injuring two adults and narrowly missing a child. Those reports show that Waits was charged with three counts of armed criminal action, two counts of first-degree assault and one count of unlawful use of a weapon – shooting at/from a motor vehicle resulting in death or injury…
