GREEN BAY (WLUK) — An Appleton woman is sharing her story of surviving a stroke, in hopes of helping others.
Seventy-year-old Cindy Babiarz appeared on Good Day Wisconsin on National Wear Red Day. Cindy says she went through quite the journey. It began when she started feeling a lot of pressure and heaviness in her chest and learned that she had an enlarged heart. Her cardiologist called it “Broken Heart Syndrome,” attributed to stress. Two weeks after that diagnosis, Cindy suffered a stroke.
Doctors told Cindy they believed her heart was not pumping efficiently and caused a blood clot to brain. Cindy wasn’t able to walk, had hard time talking and lost ability to swallow( eat & drink). She spent 30 days inpatient rehab unit addressing these concerns. She says she walked out of rehab with a walker, still struggling with voice, and had a feeding tube. “I made it my full time job, to get my health in order, to become the best version of myself, no matter what the disability.”…
