1917 Book Club will discuss book of stories by RMNP ranger

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2026, the 1917 Book Club, hosted by the Estes Park Museum, will explore the local title “Recollections of a Rocky Mountain Ranger,” by Jack Moomaw. The program will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Museum Meeting Room. This program is free and open to the public.

First published in 1963 and later edited and republished, “Recollections of a Rocky Mountain Ranger” is a collection of stories, a biography and poems surrounding Jack Moomaw, who first served as a licensed guide, then ranger in the newly established Rocky Mountain National Park. The book gives insight into a local Estes Park character and avid outdoorsman.

A limited number of copies of the book can be found at the Estes Valley Library and Macdonald Book Shop. If copies are difficult to access, contact the curator of interpretation, Mikaela Fundaun, at [email protected]. Upcoming 1917 Book Club program dates are: February 18, March 18, and April 15, 2026.
