Woodburn High students walk out Friday to protest ICE enforcement

Over 250 Woodburn High School students walked out of school Friday morning to speak out against local and nationwide immigration enforcement.

The walkout started at approximately 10:15 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12. Students began the demonstration on campus and then marched down Mt. Hood Avenue toward Highway 99E, where some continued protesting for over two hours in front of Safeway.

As the students made their way through the streets of Woodburn, passing vehicles honked in encouragement as they marched. Students blew whistles and waved signs reading “Fund education, not deportation,” “Freedom or fascism, time to choose” and “When cruelty becomes normal, compassion becomes radical.”…
