HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The city’s Complete Streets program is looking at increasing safety in a McCully neighborhood where the streets are narrow, traffic is heavy, and the sidewalks are missing.
The densely populated neighborhood is just west of McCully Street, between Kapiolani Boulevard and South King Street.
“There’s kids constantly walking to school,” said Honolulu City Councilmember Scott Nishimoto, who lives in the neighborhood. “Washington Middle’s right there. Lunalilo (Elementary School) is right there. And they’re having to go on the street and then go on the grass, go on the street. So it creates a dangerous situation.”…
