Lehigh Township Supervisors torn over Rainbow Bridge Girl Scout project

During the Jan. 27 meeting of the Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors, Township Manager Alice Rehrig reported that she had advertised a vacancy on the Planning Commission for an unexpired term ending in December 2027. Only one resident, Wayne Kleintop, had applied to fill the vacancy. Supervisors invited him to come forward to talk about his interest in the position, and he explained that he was born in Treichlers and has lived in Lehigh Township all his life.

“I love this township,” he said, adding that he is entering “semi-retirement” and feels that serving on the Planning Commission would be a great way for him to devote some of his free time to helping the community. The appointment was granted by a unanimous vote.

Supervisors next heard from Brianna Clough, an 11th grader in the Northampton Area School District, who is working on her Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project, which she has brought before the Recreation Board at prior meetings, is the construction of a “rainbow bridge” at Delps Park.
