Allentown, PA – February 6, 2026 – Lehigh County Executive Josh Siegel gathered local providers this week to help develop an action plan for helping the unsheltered during this weekend’s extreme cold weather. “Local government has a moral duty to make sure that residents have access to the basic needs of survival. For too long the unsheltered community has been an afterthought, and I refuse to allow that complacency and inaction to continue. I am committed to making sure that every resident of Lehigh County has safe options to sleep and stay warm. I invite my fellow elected officials to join me in addressing the needs of the unsheltered community with the urgency it demands,” Siegel stated.
Executive Siegel has been in communication with providers to coordinate efforts and reduce the risks posed by severe weather. These efforts are focused on ensuring that residents who are inadequately sheltered can limit their exposure to the elements and remain safe.
“I want to thank our community partners for working so diligently to keep our unhoused community safe,” said Executive Siegel. “I have directed my administration to continue to address these needs that have been unmet for so long. We will continue working on comprehensive solutions to ensure all of our residents have dignity, safety, and shelter.”…
