The Homewood Fire Department has launched a new tradition aimed at strengthening its connection with the neighborhoods it serves by placing community names on the front of its fire apparatus.
The initiative began with a new 2024 fire engine assigned to Station 2, which now proudly displays “Edgewood” on its front. A new truck assigned to Station 1 also features the name “Rosedale,” recognizing the primary communities those crews protect on a daily basis.
Fire Chief Brandon Broadhead said the effort underscores the department’s commitment to the neighborhoods it serves. He emphasized that a firehouse represents more than just a building, describing it as a steady presence within a community.
