A North Carolina man’s gamble didn’t pay off the way he thought it would.
Oliver Austin Thomas, III, 50, formerly of Myrtle Beach, now residing in Raleigh, North Carolina, has been sentenced to more than a year in federal prison for failure to file an income tax return and tax evasion.
U.S Attorney Bryan Stirling said investigations turned up that Thomas had won substantial amounts of money in Las Vegas during 2020, 2021 and 2022 and attempted to evade paying taxes on the winnings by providing false social security numbers to the casinos…
