The HBO Original two-part documentary “Murder in Glitterball City” debuts Thursday, Feb. 19, and for the Louisville author whose book inspired the series, the journey has been anything but ordinary.
In 2010, David Domine, a Louisville author of more than a dozen books, had just turned on a local TV newscast when a familiar Louisville anchor began reporting sketchy details of a drug fueled sex-triangle and murder that had unfolded just down street from Domine’s Old Louisville home.
The murder case, and subsequent trial, centered on Old Louisville residents Joey Banis and Jeffrey Mundt and a drug fueled sexual encounter they shared with a third man, Jamie Carroll. During the encounter, Carroll was stabbed and shot by Banis, whose body was then wrapped in a large plastic storage container, sealed with foam and lime, and buried under the basement floor of the home. Six months later, Carroll’s remains were discovered after Mundt called 911 claiming Banis was trying to kill him…
