MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Emergency rooms across the Mid-South are still overwhelmed days after last week’s winter storm, as doctors continue treating a surge of patients injured in ice-related falls.
Physicians at Regional One Health say they are still seeing a steady stream of people with broken bones, head injuries and sprains caused by slick conditions even after the snow has stopped falling.
“There have been so many ice-related injuries for the last couple of weeks or so,” said Dr. Anna Yang, an emergency and family medicine physician at Regional One. “The majority of the slip and falls have actually caused broken bones, sometimes many broken bones and internal injuries too.”…
