Locally heavy snow continues to fall throughout parts of Southern New England through this evening as an interest storm hits the region. Snowfall totals will vary drastically, depending on location.
This is one of the more unique snowfall maps Storm Team 10 has issued this winter. The two main features that have led to this interesting map are this morning’s ocean-enhanced snowfall across South County, Rhode Island, and this afternoon’s mesoscale band that develops. This ocean-enhanced ploom caused by a meso-low pressure north of Block Island dropped a quick 3-6″ of snow before 8 AM. Interior communities should pick up the majority of their snowfall once the narrow snow band develops later today.
