SANTA ROSA, California — Decades in the making, the never-before-seen archives of the late Floyd Red Crow Westerman are on exhibit at the California Indian Museum and Cultural Center in California now through July.

Westerman, 1936-2007, was a boarding school survivor, a Marine veteran, an American Indian Movement activist, a protest folk singer, an artist, and a noted actor whose breakthrough role came in his 50s with the role of Chief Ten Bears in “Dances with Wolves” in 1990.
