The Johnson County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved $662,443.62 in funding for two service contracts for county projects at its formal session Thursday.
The board approved a contract for a bridge replacement project to Peterson Contractors, Inc., a Reinbeck excavating and ground improvement contractor, amounting to $552,443.62 to replace the bridge at Derby Avenue SW, an area southwest of Iowa City in rural Johnson County.
The county notified residents via its website in April 2025 that the bridge at Derby Avenue SW showed “advancing deterioration” and would be closed until further notice.
