Humble rodeo opens with emotional tribute to family lost in Hill Country floods

HUMBLE, Texas — The 79th annual Humble Rodeo opened Friday night on a somber note as organizers paused the festivities to honor a family whose loss is still deeply felt across the community.

Before the first events began, the rodeo paid tribute to Jeff, Amber and Shiloh Wilson — known locally as the “Wilson Three” — who were killed in the Hill Country floods on the Fourth of July last year.

Jeff Wilson had spent more than three decades as an auto-collision teacher with the Humble Independent School District and was closely tied to agricultural education programs, including FFA and the rodeo itself…
