A sunny weekend and two shots at rain next week

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The sunshine that we have enjoyed over the ArkLaTex over the past few days will continue through the weekend. Temperatures will stay above normal through at least next weekend. We’ll see two chances of rain next week, including next weekend.

Friday has turned out to be a much warmer day thanks to plenty of sunshine. Afternoon temperatures have soared into the 70s and could end up close to 80 in a few spots. A weak front will bring a cooler start to the weekend on Saturday. Temperatures will begin in the low to mid-40s on Saturday morning. Daytime highs will be much cooler, but will stay above normal. Look for highs to ease into the low to middle 60s. The weekend will end with warmer temperatures on Sunday. Lows will return to the 40s, and daytime highs will climb back into the 70s.

Even though we will see a cold front move through the area late on Friday and Friday night, Futurecast shows that it won’t bring many clouds or any rain. Expect a mostly clear sky on Friday night and a sunny sky on Saturday. We will likely stay mostly clear on Saturday night. Sunday will begin with lots of sunshine and will end with more clouds mixing in with the sunshine during the afternoon. The clouds will likely increase on Sunday night and Monday.

Next week’s weather will feature two disturbances that will bring the threat of rain. The first will arrive on Tuesday and Tuesday night. The second will arrive late in the week. Models are still rather split on the timing of the rain. It could begin as soon as Friday, but the best chance of rain will be on Saturday and Saturday night. We will likely end next weekend with a mix of sunshine and clouds next Sunday. It still appears that the heaviest rain will be over the northern half of the area, where amounts should be 1 to 1.5″. Rain totals will range from ½ to ¾” over the southern half of the area.

Temperatures will stay above normal from now through next weekend. Daytime highs next week will mainly be in the 70s. They will ease into the 60s next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Overnight lows will likely warm into the 50s and return to the 40s late in the period…
