Demonstrators gather for anti-ICE rally in Troy

TROY — Shortly before noon on Saturday, a crowd of demonstrators made their way to the small area in front of the Troy Atrium at the corner of Broadway and Third Street to rally against the tactics of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

With organizers clearing more and more snow off the concrete in front of the atrium to make additional room for demonstrators as they joined, the crowd huddled together in below zero temperatures. Chants of “ICE out” and “get rid of ICE” rang out from the busy intersection.

“We didn’t expect this many people today,” said Oakwood Community Center food pantry coordinator Dan Oropallo, who helped direct foot traffic around the rally. Roughly 200 people were seen gathered there at the rally’s peak…
