VALATIE — A new management group has taken over operations of a nursing home and rehabilitation facility in Columbia County that has been beset by allegations of neglect and poor ratings in recent years.
On Feb. 1, Novacare assumed operational control of the Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell and six other facilities owned by the Grand Healthcare in New York. The move comes as the Grand Healthcare’s owner, Jeremy Strauss, steps back to focus on running other facilities on Long Island, said Bruce Gendron, the company’s former vice president who is now employed under NovaCare.
NovaCare, a provider of outpatient physical therapy and specialty rehabilitation services, will support Barnwell’s administrator with management consulting and staff and payroll support. Ownership of the building, located at 3230 Church St. in Valatie, will remain under The Grand Healthcare…
