Armed Robbery Escalates to High-Speed Chase and Shootout in Charlotte, Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

Early yesterday morning, a routine response to an armed robbery in Charlotte escalated into a dangerous pursuit, with suspects firing at law enforcement officers before a crash and subsequent apprehension. According to a report by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD), officers were dispatched after a robbery call at around 3:20 a.m. in the 500 block of Summit Avenue.

The drama unfolded, when officers located the suspect’s vehicle and initiated a stop, only to be met with gunfire as the vehicle fled. No officers were injured in the exchange, which saw the suspect vehicle eventually crash in the 3600 block of Morris Field Drive. One suspect, identified as Christopher Jaiquan Chisholm, attempted to escape on foot but was captured with the help of K-9 units.

Chisholm now faces a slew of charges, including attempted first-degree murder and assault on law enforcement officers with a firearm, among others. Despite the severity of the incident, the CMPD confirmed that their officers did not discharge their weapons during the pursuit and that no police vehicles were hit by gunfire…
